چکیده

A statistical theory is presented for the ordering dynamics of a system with a complex order parameter quenched below the critical temperature. On the basis of a picture that string·like defects are formed in the early stage of the ordering process, the disappearing process of the defects is studied. We obtain the time evolution of the defect density and its two-point correlation function, which exhibits a scaling behavior, if the strings are initially convoluted and percolated. We also calculate the correlation function of the gradient of phase of the order parameter corresponding to the superfiuid velocity in 'He. The characteristic length in this system is found to behave as t1/ •

Short-range ordering in the supercooled states of a dimer system

Detailed analyses have been carried out on the molecular dynamics simulations on the short-range ordering of the quenched states below melting temperature for a system of nearly spherical rigid dimer molecules under constant high pressure. We present evidence of preserving local ordering that prevents the system from having long-range translational ordering. The effect provides the cause for th...

Dynamics and Melting of Stripes, Crystals, and Bubbles with Quenched Disorder

Two-dimensional systems in which there is a competition between long-range repulsion and short range attraction exhibit a remarkable variety of patterns such as stripes, bubbles, and labyrinths. Such systems include magnetic films, Langmuir monolayers, polymers, gels, water-oil mixtures, and two-dimensional electron systems. In many of these systems quenched disorder from the underlying substra...

Quantum quenches in a spinor condensate.

We discuss the ordering of a spin-1 condensate when quenched from its paramagnetic phase to its ferromagnetic phase by reducing the magnetic field. We first elucidate the nature of the equilibrium quantum phase transition. Quenching rapidly through this transition reveals XY ordering either at a specific wave vector, or the "light-cone" correlations familiar from relativistic theories, dependin...

Ising antiferromagnet with mobile , pinned and quenched defects

Motivated by recent experiments on (Sr,Ca,La) 14 Cu 24 O 41 , a two–dimensional Ising antiferromagnet with mobile, locally pinned and quenched defects is introduced and analysed using mainly Monte Carlo techniques. The interplay between the arrangement of the defects and the magnetic ordering as well as the effect of an external field are studied.

Zero-temperature dynamic transition in the random field Ising model: A Monte Carlo study

The dynamics of a random (quenched) field Ising model (in two dimension) at zero temperature in the presence of an additional sinusoidally oscillating homogeneous (in space) magnetic field has been studied by Monte Carlo simulation using the Metropolis single spin flip dynamics. The instantaneous magnetisation is found to be periodic with the same periodicity of the oscillating magnetic field. ...
